Socacier Group, a rapidly growing player in the steel distribution industry, has acquired the activities of Les Aciers Verset, a well-known steel buying and selling business in Belgium. François Bourlet, the majority shareholder of Aciers Verset, has passed on his business to Socacier, as part of the latter’s expansion strategy through acquisitions.
Through this integration, Socacier has also expanded its operational geography while gaining access to Les Aciers Verset’s excellent supply chain and customer portfolio that has been developed since 1903. François Bourlet is pleased with this transition and is convinced that he has made a sustainable choice for his business while maintaining a family spirit within the company.
Socacier Group is a major player in steel distribution for professionals and has been a family-owned business for five generations. In recent years, the group has expanded through organic growth and acquisitions, including Masquelier, Leloux-Laurent, and VMC. Shareholders Paul-Emile Cassart and Léon Maskens have demonstrated a strong commitment to the group’s significant growth potential in a sector that is experiencing consolidation.
Aciers Verset is a well-established reference point in the central region of Belgium and has been active for four generations in the purchase and resale of steel, with or without transformation. With a turnover of €6 million and a workforce of about twenty people, the company has developed a reputation for excellence in its field.
This acquisition is expected to further strengthen Socacier’s market position and to provide new opportunities for growth and expansion in the steel distribution industry.
