European steel beams prices flat for three consecutive weeks

Prices for steel beams in Europe were flat in the week to Wednesday February 14, with very little trading taking place, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets’ price assessment for steel beams domestic, delivered Northern Europe was €760-790 ($814- 846) per tonne on Wednesday, unchanged week on week.

Similarly, Fastmarkets’ price assessment for steel beams domestic, delivered Southern Europe was €760-790 per tonne on Wednesday, also unchanged week on week.

The Northern and Southern European beams markets have had no price movements for three consecutive weeks, with buying interest limited due to slow consumption, Fastmarkets heard.

Meanwhile, scrap feedstock prices — including heavy melting scrap (HMS) — in Turkey’s bellwether market inched down in the past week amid weak finished steel demand.

Fastmarkets’ calculation of its daily index for steel scrap HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix) North Europe origin, cfr Turkey was $416.02 per tonne on Wednesday, down by $1.72 per tonne week on week from $417.74 per tonne and by $5.21 per tonne month on month.
