European steel distributors met in Krakow

Last Wednesday and Thursday the main event for steel distributors in Central Europe took place in Kraków, Poland.

160 participants came together in a co-organisation of EUROMETAL and the Polish Association of Steel Stockholders (PUDS).

This event, which took place at The Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, especially geared towards the Visegrad region, also welcomed steel stakeholders from the rest of Europe and Turkey.

After an introduction by PUDS President Iwona Dybał and the EUROMETAL Vice President Robert Kay, the event featured key note speakers such as Anthony de Carvalho from the OECD, Geoff Gottlieb from the International Monetary Fund, Wojciech Zalewski from EY, Alexander Siryk from Metals Consulting International, Stanislav Zinchenko from the GMK Center and Adam Szewczyk from World Steel Association.

During the day we also had the opportunity to listen to steel professionals such as Jan Moravec from Ferona, Frederik Leus from ArcelorMittal Europe and Andreas du Plessis from the Reibus sales platform.

The event concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Adam Smith from Kallanish, which was attended by Roland Fazekas from Carboferr and MAFE (Association of Hungarian Steel and Metal Traders), Virinder Garg from Liberty Steel Group, Zenon Jędrocha from Stalprofil and the president of EUROMETAL, Fernando Espada.
