Italian rebar maker Feralpi has purchased Spanish wire re-roller Saexpa in line with its internationalisation strategy. Felapi acquired the company through its subsidiary Nuova Defim.
Saexpa counts two production facilities in Barcelona and Ripoll producing finished products for the logistic sector. The company, Feralpi tells Kallanish, has recorded significant growth over the past years, particularly on the export market serving 30 countries. In 2021, it achieved a turnover of €16 million ($17m). The acquisition reflects an opportunity for international development and verticalization in a highly profitable and booming logistics sector thanks to the global spread of e-commerce.
“With this operation the Feralpi Group strengthens its business unit of diversified products in line with the industrial plan which includes the optimization of the product mix and segments, maximizing market share and strengthening customer service… We can now expand our product range and find a stronger manufacturing structure that can generate new business opportunities ” Managing Director of Feralpi Group and president of Nuova Defim Giovanni Pasini comments in a note.

Feralpi specialises in the production of steel for construction and other special applications. It employs 1,700 workers for a €1.24 billion turnover, Kallanish notes.
