Ukrainian pipemaker Interpipe has shipped seamless pipe produced in accordance with European standards to Spain, for construction of the new airport terminal on Tenerife Island, the company tells Kallanish.
Due to the logistics chain rebuilt last year through the Romanian port of Constantca, Interpipe delivered the order just in-time, the enterprise claims. However, it did not provide tonnage.
Another project includes the supply of pipe for the Neves-Corvo poly-metallic base metal mine located southeast of Lisbon, Portugal. This is one of the main centres of metallic minerals extraction in Western Europe.
A large mine expansion project is being implemented here, and Interpipe’s products will be used to expand the tailings and to create an artificial pound, Interpipe says. The waste will be removed through the new pipeline under pressure of 120 bars.
“In the current, extremely tough war conditions, Interpipe’s mission is very important for the Ukrainian economy: to provide people with jobs contributing taxes to the state and local budgets from manufactured products, especially for export markets,” says the company’s sales director, Ivan Mazanka. “Thanks to our European friends simplifying the trade regime for Ukrainian businesses as much as possible, Interpipe is allowed to participate in landmark projects in the European Union.”
In March, Interpipe was forced to stop steel production for two weeks due to a shortage of ferrous scrap (see Kallanish passim).
The company reduced crude steel production in January-September 2022 to 463,000 tonnes, down by 36.3% on-year. Third-quarter output however was 177,000t, up by 43.9% on-quarter.
Ukraine’s pipemakers increased production Q1 2023 amid the ongoing Russian invasion to 126,500t, up by 5.9% on-year, said national pipemaker association Ukrtruboprom (see Kallanish passim). Ukraine’s pipemakers increased exports in January-March to 92,070t, worth $172.33m, up by 11.8% in revenue on-year.
