EU member states voted in favour of definitive anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled flat steel imports from five countries – India, Japan, Turkey, Vietnam and Taiwan, China – on 29 October, market sources told McCloskey.
Fifteen member states voted in favour of the measures, nine abstained and three voted against.
The measures will come into effect once the implementing regulation is published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
Earlier in October, the European Commission revised the proposed anti-dumping duty rates for the material originating from Turkish, decreasing them to 3.0-7.8% from the originally suggested 5.6-9.7%.
The European Commission initiated the anti-dumping investigation following a complaint lodged by the European steel association Eurofer in September last year. The EU authorities decided against imposing provisional duties, making the retroactive application of measures impossible.
