Spanish-headquartered stainless steel producer Acerinox says it has agreed with the employees’ council a new temporary lay-off scheme for the workforce at its Cadiz unit, Kallanish learns from the company.
“Acerinox will apply a Temporary Employment Regulation system (ERTE) to the workers of the Los Barrios plant for up to one year from 5 May,” the firm says. “The temporary lay-off scheme includes the entire workforce and will allow the staff to be adapted to the existing production demand at all times, thus providing great flexibility to the company.”
The agreement includes a partial supplement by the company of up to 85% to limit the possible decrease in wages during the time not worked. The implementation of the agreement will be monitored by a commission that includes representatives from the company and trade unions, the steelmaker adds.
