British Steel tells Kallanish that it has opened a new metal centre at its Scunthorpe UK headquarters.
The new facility can supply a wide-range of constructional steel products and services, the steelmaker says, and replaces a smaller facility on the outskirts of the town.
Known as the Scunthorpe Metal Centre, the service facility “… further strengthens British Steel’s nationwide network of metal and service centres,” the company adds. The long products’ specialist now has a network of 15 service centres, metal centres and sales offices in the UK, it continues.
“Moving to bigger facilities allows us to offer customers an extended range of steel products including our UK manufactured structural sections with next day delivery as standard. We’ll also have further processing facilities including cutting to length so we can tailor our products to customers’ precise requirements, says Construction segment managing director Richard Farnsworth.
The facility will handle a range of steel products including sections, bars, angles, channels, plate, sheet, mesh, flooring and hand railing. As well as cutting to length it will also offer shot-blasting and painting services, British Steel confirms.
