EC to probe dumping of cold-rolled steel products from India, Indonesia

The European Commission said Sept. 30 it has launched an investigation into the potential dumping of stainless cold-rolled steel products originating in India and Indonesia.

The move followed a complaint lodged Aug. 17 by the European steel association Eurofer on behalf of producers representing more than 25% of EU production of stainless steel cold-rolled flat products.

The investigation will cover the 12 months that began July 1, 2019. Parties have 10 days to submit information. Provisional measures may be imposed by May 2021.

According to the EC, some raw materials that represent more than 17% of the cost of production of the product under investigation may be distorted because of export restrictions.

The EC has carried out a series of investigations into stainless steel imports, with an ongoing anti-dumping investigation against stainless hot-rolled imports from China, Indonesia and Taiwan.
