European steel HRC market still quiet amid push for higher offers

European domestic prices for steel hot-rolled coil were mostly unchanged on Wednesday November 12, with uncertainties persisting around new trade regulations and muted demand keeping prices stable, trade sources told Fastmarkets.
According to a distributor source, demand was “terribly low” while as the market prepared for new trade regulations, including the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), set to come into effect on January 1, 2026.

The source also said that new regulations have become the key drivers of price growth in the market, with real demand remaining subdued.
