Following the departure of Frank Koch to join Swiss Steel, Alexander Becker will take over the ceo position at Germany’s Georgsmarienhütte Holding (GMH Gruppe) on 1 July, Kallanish learns from the group.
Alexander Becker, 43, has been working at thyssenkrupp since 2015 and led the Forged Technologies business unit from Brazil and Germany. He had previously gained industrial experience in the automotive sector, working for Continental AG in Brazil and China from 2007 to 2014.
The statement notes that cfo Thomas Löhr temporarily took over as head of the executive board in December, but refrains from mentioning Frank Koch at all. Koch’s appointment as new ceo of Swiss Steel was announced back then, but the date of his transfer remained unclear until this week (see Kallanish 25 March). Quite apparently, the transition did not go without legal quarrel between the parties involved.
With 20 units, GMH Gruppe makes mainly special bar qualities and associated downstream products. It achieved a revenue of €1.9 billion ($2.2 billion) in the 2019 fiscal year, and currently employs about 5,900 personnel.
