Italian re-roller Marcegaglia has purchased the production assets of German re-roller Flender. It intends to relocate them to its headquarters in Gazoldo degli Ippoliti, northern Italy, in order to widen its product range.
Flender counts four tube production lines and one coating line at its factory in Siegen, Germany. It currently manufactures welded steel pipe for a wide range of applications, including both round tube and precision pipe, as well as standard profiles and special profiles of carbon steel and ferritic stainless steel.
Flender, with a yearly capacity of up to 150,000 tonnes, is particularly active in the oil, gas and energy sectors where Marcegaglia intends to boost its capacity, Kallanish notes.
Over the coming six months Marcegaglia will dismantle and revamp the five lines and re-install them at the Gazoldo degli Ippoliti site, completing and boosting product range, the company confirms. Works will be completed by 2022.
