Spain’s Network Steel secures renewable energy supply

Spanish coil processing company Network Steel (NS) has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Statkraft and Fortia Energía to power its production facilities in the Iberian Peninsula.

Statkraft, one of Europe’s largest renewable producers, will design the wind and solar technology from its portfolio in Spain, to Fortia, which will act as a purchaser of the energy, Kallanish learns. In turn, the largest independent supplier in the Iberian electricity market will make this energy available to NS, covering about half of its annual consumption in Spain.

“This agreement guarantees our electricity supply at stable prices, enabling us to reduce the risk of energy costs and increase our competitiveness,” the coil processing company says. “Having Statkraft and Fortia strengthens the development of our sustainability plan, which is key to being able to move forward and offer our customers increasingly competitive and environmentally friendly products.”
