Steel heavy plate prices in Italy edged higher in the week to Thursday November 27, supported by widespread expectations of added Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) costs, while prices in Northern Europe remained steady, sources told Fastmarkets.
Italy
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel domestic plate, 8-40mm, exw Southern Europe was €650-660 ($753- 764) per tonne on Thursday, up by €10 per tonne from €640-650 per tonne on November 20.
Commodity-grade steel plate was on offer in Italy at €650 per tonne ex-works, sources said, with limited volumes sold at that level for January delivery – although the deals were for smaller volumes, below Fastmarkets’ minimum tonnage specification.
