Luxembourg-based tubular producer Tenaris has brought some of its third-party finishing services in-house via the acquisition of Republic Tube’s Houston, Texas, process facility.
The plant, located on the northeast side of Houston, adds heat treatment and finishing lines, further complementing Tenaris’s existing operations in the south, and increasing its capacity to serve the domestic market. Approximately 400 people work at the facility.
“We had been analyzing multiple possibilities to expand and strengthen our industrial footprint. We were already partially using Republic Tube to process some of our domestic production, and, by adding this facility to our network, we are improving process flow and efficiency, granting us greater flexibility to serve our US customers,” said Luca Zanotti, Tenaris US President.
During its transition, Tenaris will work to integrate the plant and align its operations to the company’s worldwide industrial standards for health, safety, and environment, and in process management.
Tenaris is committed to continuing to offer high-quality services at this facility.
Tenaris also recently announced the reopening of its Hickman North Campus in Arkansas, the former IPSCO Tubulars facility, which will support the company’s domestic operations with further heat treatment processing.
