German plate distribution group Unionstahl has commissioned a fully automated sorting and picking system that is directly connected to one of its high-performance fibre lasers, Kallanish learns.
The fibre laser has been ensuring precise cutting processes in its production for years, and the system now commissioned brings a notable enhancement by automated sorting and picking of the cut parts, Unionstahl says.
This eliminates a large part of the manual rework that was previously time-consuming and resource-intensive, it adds.
The new facility offers automation that reduces manual handling steps and minimises sources of error, the company explains. The overall handling will benefit from increased efficiency thanks to shorter throughput times and optimised material flows.
Headquartered in Duisburg, Unionstahl has 17 agencies in Germany, several European countries, and overseas in South America and Asia.
