AM Italia names Morselli as CEO; Jehl takes on new role

ArcelorMittal Italia said Tuesday its chairman and CEO, Matthieu Jehl, was moving to another job with the parent company and would be succeeded in both roles by Lucia Morselli, effective immediately.

Morselli had been appointed because “it would be beneficial to have an Italian chairman and CEO with extensive experience in operating in the country,” an ArcelorMittal spokesman told S&P Global Platts. Jehl will help during the transition period.

Morselli is “widely recognized as a highly experienced business leader who has made a significant contribution to Italian industry. Her experience and expertise will be very valuable to ArcelorMittal Italia as we seek to put the company on a more sustainable footing and strengthen the consensus around the future of the plant,” said Geert van Poelvoorde, CEO of ArcelorMittal Europe, Flat Products.

Morselli is recognized as one of Italy’s leading businesswomen, having held CEO positions at numerous companies including Acciai Speciali Terni, where she achieved a turnaround. She is a member of the board of directors at Essilor-Luxottica, Telecom Italia SPA, Sisal SPA and ST Microelectronics.
