Bamesa, the Spanish steel service centre, has received approval from European authorities to acquire 50% of Czech steel distributor Steel Centre Europe.
The other 50% of the company will continue to be held by Japan’s Sumitomo, Kallanish notes.
With the acquisition, Bamesa further extends its presence globally, being already active in the Spanish, Portuguese, Moroccan, Romanian and Turkish markets.
Steel Centre Europe was established in 2004 by Sumitomo and Toyota Tsusho, and processes mainly coil products.
