Local production fell by 52% in 2013-2023
The plate market in Poland is quite stable with an average volume over the last 10 years of 1.06 million tons, which is similar to 2023 numbers. The plate market accounts for 8% of total steel consumption in Poland.
Domestic plate production in Poland is stagnating, having fallen by 52% in 2013-2023. There are three local producers with a total capacity of 1.26 million tons. But the largest, Huta Czestochowa with a capacity of 1 million tons, is going through bankruptcy and has stopped operations in 2023.
The Polish plate market is supplied by imports. Import`s share on the market in 2023 was 90%, raising from 59% in 2013. The main suppliers of plate to Poland are Italy (16%), the Czech Republic (15%), Germany (15%), Denmark (11%), Finland (8%).
