Italian flat products’ output fell year-on-year in July, according to data released by local steelmakers’ association Federacciai, monitored by Kallanish.
In July, flats output decreased year-on-year by -9.4% to 892,000 tonnes. Over the first seven months of the year output ticked up by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2018 however, reaching 6.8 million tonnes.
Italian longs output also increased in July, by 1.6% y-o-y to 1.6mt. It moved in the opposite direction over January-July, falling by -0.2% to 7.6mt.
In 2018 flats’ output fell by -2% on-year to 11.1mt. In full-year 2017 production of flats had dipped by -2.1% to 11.33mt, Federacciai confirms. Longs production in 2018, however, grew by 4.1% to 12.4mt, after it had grown by 2.3% y-o-y in 2017 to 11.9mt.
