Polish domestic long steel prices remained largely stable in the week to Friday August 28 amid weak demand and low buying appetite, as the market gradually returned from the holiday season and summer lull.
“Steel mills have quite good stocks, and they produced less in August,” a distributor source told Fastmarkets.
Market participants described demand as weak following the August holiday period, with buying activity remaining limited.
In the rebar segment, deals were heard at 2,670-2,680 zloty ($719-722) per tonne CPT.
Workable levels were heard at 2,650-2,680 zloty per tonne CPT.
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, CPT Poland, was 2,650-2,680 zloty per tonne on Friday, unchanged week on week.
Trading activity in the wire rod segment remained limited during the assessment week, with workable levels heard at 2,990-3,100 zloty per tonne delivered and offers heard within the same range.
