UK passenger car output fell again year-on-year both in October and year-to-date Kallanish notes from data issued by trade association SMMT. Commercial vehicle production stabilised y-o-y during the month meanwhile, although it also remains well down y-t-d.
UK car manufacturing output fell by -4.0% in October with 134,752 units rolling off production lines, SMMT says. Weak demand at home led to a -10.7% drop in production for the UK market while exports fell by -2.6%.
Car production in the country has now fallen in 16 of the last 17 months, with y-t-d performance down -14.4%, the association confirms.
UK commercial vehicle production was stable in October, down by just -0.2%. Output for the overseas market was up by 9.3%, but production of home orders fell by -8.5%.
The fall in y-t-d performance remained in double digits, down by -11.5%.
