In a 6-3 decision on Friday February 20, the US Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump’s unilateral imposition of sweeping global tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was unlawful.
According to the majority opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, “IEEPA does not authorize the President to impose tariffs.”
